I just have to say that the overview of the Flash/Flex/Apollo platform by Ely was great. Along with Ely there was David Wadhwani and Mike Chambers to provide an action packed presentation. All this was captured on Scoble’s podtech videos and can be found here.
When I get some more time I’ll try and post my thoughts on the Flex open source bonanza.

The Professional Flex 2 book comes out in May. The title of the post is part of Chapter 26: Integration with External Applications (page 626-641).
You can check out the rest of the Professional Flex 2 table of contents here.
Chapter 26 will show a working C# .Net windows application work with Flash through LocalConnection. It is more of a starting point then an in-depth C# application. But its worth taking a look at if you have ever wondered how its done.
There are other gems in the Professional Flex 2 book. The logging chapter goes over in detail the Flex 2 logging framework (Chapter 19: Debug and Test), something that is not fully utilized by most developers, at least in my opinion.

Hot off the press…. or grapevine… look to labs on Monday for some Flex and Flash CS3 integration goodies (it’s on the Flex side). It will be a great step forward for Flex as Flash integration/skinning. More to come when the information becomes more available.
To bad we have to wait for Flash CS3 to see this all really work in the real world. Either way its good to see whats coming down the pipe.

Check it out on the Adobe MAX 2007 blog. Over on the right hand side half way down you’ll see some countdown widgets. If you rollover the “Get more widgets” text you’ll see its pointing to the yourminis.com website.
This is cool to see the a use of more and more Flash/Flex widgets and applications on Adobe sponsored sites. It is also nice to see/hear more and more from Adobe about internal and external applications that Adobe will be producing using Flex.

I am currently sitting in Adobe’s San Francisco office starting my new contract (and in a few months full time) job. I have joined a small internal seed group working on a Voice initiative. I am really excited about this opportunity and looking forward to being part of the company that produces the technology I use on a daily basis.
It has been a very interesting series of events to come to this point and it was a big decision for my family and I. I’ll continue to use Flex and ActionScript in new position and still plan to blog as much as possible. I will be commuting to San Francisco on a regular basis and Adobe is treating me really well.
